My greatest love are coastal scenes which, in my experience, photograph best in extreme conditions. Usually before or after storms and heavy rain. The wind and rain clear the atmosphere and when the sun breaks through storm clouds, the lighting effects are dramatic. This means getting cold and/or wet!
