Sport Photography:

7D or 5D with 100-400 IS lens, high ISO usually required - mostly hand held but sometimes with Manfrotto monopod. Occasional use of 17-40 and 600 lenses

Nature:

5D with 100-400 IS lens or 100 Macro with extension tubes if required.  For macro work I use a Manfrotto tripod.  The Lumix LX5 is a very good macro camera. With Leica lens and f2 it is a very useful “rucksack” camera.  It will close focus to 1 cm!

Infra-Red:

20D converted for IR by Advanced Camera Services, Diss.  10-22  or 35-105 lens. Usually set at ISO 400, f11 or smaller.

Landscape:

5D with 17-40 with Manfrotto tripod & head.  Also LX5 especially when travelling. Small apertures of course!

People:

I’m not really a people photographer but I have found that the 5D with 100-400 is a great all rounder at places like Speakers Corner and Sheringham 40s weekend - all hand-held.

Creative:

Anything goes!

Post Processing:

I always shoot in RAW and convert using Adobe RAW Converter.  Monochrome conversions are done exclusively with Silver Efex.  Generally few effects/filters are used but I do use a lot of “darkroom” controls to get the best from an image.
